Discover Javailty: Hailgalad’s Cultural Gem

Javailty is the oldest city within the borders of Hailgalad. Along the banks of the Southrun River, it was founded by the Vaelorans, the imperial power of the world, who conquered these lands. When it was part of the Vaeloran kingdom, it was created as the primary center of power to rule over the vast grassy fields of Hailgalad.

The Hailgaladrian revolution came to a climax at these city walls with Eardred I leading his army in a siege, then conquering of Javailty. After this, Vaelor was pushed out of Hailgalad for good.

Javailty is a city built in the likeness of the major cities of Vaelor. There are many grand stone structures with thick columns of hand-chiseled stone. Green ivy is draped along the ancient buildings that are a thousand years old.

Many of the smaller shops and homes are made with grey brick and have brown shingle roofs. The city itself is densely populated with many winding roads and alleyways connecting the board, main city streets.

Javailty is known as a city of art and culture. Many famous sculptors and painters call this city home. It is evident by the art galleries and bookshops that pepper the city’s storefronts.

Artists are not the old special group that have their roots in Javailty. The White Hand, an order of mages who swore an oath to protect life, have their headquarters here. They draw their origin from Vaelor and were assigned to be a magical liaison to this land. The name the White Hand came from the imperial order of mages in Vaelor know as the Divine Lightbringers. This group was meant to be the hand that dealt with Hailgaladrian peoples. They instead became attached to Hailgalad and found sympathy to these tribes’ plight for freedom. During the revolution, Eardred convinced their leader, Meadan, to join their side. The White Hand played a pivotal role in helping Hailgalad gain their independence. They maintain their residence in Javailty in the building know as the spire. It is a tall, four-pointed spear building that scrapes the sky. It is said that the amount of knowledge and magical artifacts there make it the most valuable structure in all of Hailgalad.

The royal palace is are the end of a broad cobblestone road. It is not tall in the style of other Hailgaladrian royal structures, but it is a sprawling compound. Before one comes to the palace door, they walk through a courtyard of beautifully trimmed hedges and well-kept lawns. There are many sculptures from the days of Vaelor and Hailgalad. While many wanted to destroy all marks of their former oppressors, Eardred felt it was important to maintain their history and culture and thus this old art was preserved.

The governor of this city and surrounding land is often a family member of the crown. It is because of the important art and culture of the area that high society folk often find themselves in power here. The looming borderlands with Vaelor to the west are solely in the jurisdiction of the crown due to its importance, so this city’s ruler does not usually have the need for a military mind. They instead focus their minds of expanding the art and culture of Hailgalad through commissions, balls, and any manner of high society endeavors.
