There are many inns and taverns through the kingdom of Hailgalad. There, one can sleep in a soft bed and drink one of the many ales from a bitter Riverbrook Red to a rich and creamy Shopkeep’s Delight. More than this, taverngoers can hear a myriad of stories and songs. Two favorite tunes are The Little Old Inn and The Horse Dance at Midnight.
These songs are known by most every Hailgaladrian and they go a little bit like this…
The Little Old Inn
Come with me to the little old inn,
Where people come to meet their kin.
They come from far and wide,
To be together side by side.
I’d like for you to come with me,
So we can lessen our misery.
We’ll speak of days long passed,
And times we wished would last.
Ride with me to the little old inn,
Where strangers meet, and all will win.
We’ll waste away the day,
For it is cold and grey.
Come sit with me here by the fire,
Here we have all we require.
The hard day’s work is done,
We can rest here and have some fun.
Break out the games, break out the ale,
Take off that armor shirt of mail.
Savor these moments, make them last,
For life travels far too fast.
Come with me to the little old inn,
Where you can’t help but crack a grin.
We’ll waste away the day,
For it is cold and grey.
The Horse Dance at Midnight
Come with me to the fields below,
Where the grasses wave and the horses go.
If you come there in the dead of night,
It would be to your delight.
The horses are there for a great soirée,
One that never takes place in the light of day.
Here they come to gather round,
And stamp their hooves on the ground.
Now dance with me as the horses do,
And drink with me another brew.
All night, we will go on,
Until the night is gone.
The horse dance at midnight.
