Greetings! It is time for a break from world building and to provide another update for my game: Chespel. Multiple substantive and cosmetic updates have been made, and many people have played and given feedback!

I am still working on my books in Hailgalad! Three fully drafted and self-edited books are complete. Two more are in progress. This writing has been 4 years in the making, and I have been careful to take my time to strategically think about what I want for my writing in the public space.

Campaign
A new feature that I have added is a campaign mode. This will feature 10 levels against the Goblin Horde, which is a new non-playable faction. This is meant to offer a challenging gauntlet of attrition where the player picks 4 starting units and will get a unit after each level as a reinforcement. Units who is killed does not return in subsequent levels.
Here is a breakdown of the campaign that can be played now!
- 10 progressively difficult levels
- Level 5: Mini Boss – Mountain Troll
- Level 10: Final Boss – Goblin King Grimnak



Skirmish
For the Skirmish mode, there are still Versus Computer and Versus Human modes, but three major changes have come to the game. Here they are described below:
- Gradual Deployment
- Start out with 5 units (General, Lieutenant, Artillery, 2 Random Units).
- After each turn, deploy a random unit to grow your army (13 Random Faction-Specific Units Total).
- Terrain Features
- Forest 🌲
- Movement Cost: +1 MOV to enter
- Effect: Units on forest tiles are immune to ranged attacks (RNG > 1)
- Hill ⛰️
- Movement Cost: +1 MOV to enter
- Effect: Units on hills gain +1 DEF when defending AND ranged units gain +1 RNG
- Swamp 💧
- Movement Cost: +2 MOV to enter
- Effect: Units on swamps suffer -1 DEF
- Fortification 🏰
- Movement Cost: No penalty
- Effect: Units on fortifications gain +2 DEF when defending
- Forest 🌲
- Artillery Units
- Vaeloran Empire – Golden Fire Ballista
- Hailgalad – War Chariot
- Kaboutia – Black Powder Cannon
- Northfolk – Blue Ice Catapult
- Goblin Horde – Barrel Blaster
